Born in 1965, Naarden, Netherlands, Maarten graduated from
the University of Amsterdam with a Master Degree in City
Planning in 1996. Between 1990 and 1996 he single-handedly
designed, constructed and built a functional prototype of the
Spyker Silvestris V8 Sportscar.
In 1999 he co-founded the company Spyker Cars for the production of sports cars. In the years that followed he designed and styled the Spyker C8 Spyder (2000), Spyker C8 Laviolette (2001), Spyker C8 Double (2002). In 2005 he left Spyker and co-founded the company Silvestris Haute Motive Concepts.
It was Maarten’s signature design style, which made the new Spyker a world famous car, and it is easily recognisable in the Silvestris Aquamotive 23’ Sports Cabriolet speedboat. The hull design resembles that of the sports car is terms of simple but elegantly curved aluminium skin panels, highlighting the
beautiful lines.
